Afghan Association of London Hosts Successful Open Volleyball Tournament
As part of its ongoing commitment to promoting sports and community engagement, the Afghan Association of London successfully hosted an Open Volleyball Tournament on Sunday, 24 May 2026, in London, United Kingdom.
A total of 17 teams participated in this prestigious sporting event, representing various cities across the United Kingdom, including Manchester, Birmingham, and Derby. The tournament also welcomed international teams, including Sharp Spikers, Charata, and AJK Kashmir, as well as a team from the Netherlands named “Brothers Holland.”
The competition commenced at 8:00 a.m., with all participating teams demonstrating exceptional skill, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the day. Following a full day of exciting and highly competitive matches, the tournament concluded successfully at 9:00 p.m.
The final results were as follows:
Third Place: AJK Kashmir Volleyball Team – Awarded the third-place trophy and medals.
Second Place: AAL Alborz Youth Team – Recognized for their outstanding performance and awarded the runners-up trophy and medals.
Tournament Champions: Chheharata Volleyball Team – Crowned champions of the tournament and presented with the championship trophy and gold medals.
In addition, special awards were presented for Best Coach, Best Referee, and Best Player. Certificates of appreciation were also awarded to outstanding teams and individuals. These awards were presented by Ghafoor Nabi, Sports and Youth Coordinator of the Afghan Association of London, in recognition of their exceptional contributions and performances throughout the tournament.
The event was a great success, bringing together athletes, coaches, supporters, and members of the Afghan community in an atmosphere of unity, friendship, and sportsmanship.
