The Afghan Association of London (Harrow) has successfuly held a annual meeting to report our achievements and community engagements.
The Afghan Association of London has initiated and successfully facilitated a 7-a-side football tournaments. 10 London football teams have participated in the one-day tournament. The event was well attended, and the feedback from teams that participated was extremely positive.
Books With Wings UK is a fantastic initiative started by Paul Wordley, one of our dedicated and valued volunteers. The aim of the project is to collect mainly university text books and to send them to Afghanistan. Arzu Qaderi, presenter & filmmaker who used to volunteer for us is a human rights activist, now a respected filmmaker with her first own debut documentary ‘My Afghan Diary’ which has been screened at prestigious film festivals in London, Italy, India, France, Canada, South America, France and soon to be screened in Germany. Thanks to funding from the Big Lottery Fund, we have successfully established a new project: To promote equality and social inclusion of the Afghan women into UK.
The Afghan community has a long history of being resiliant in the face of adversity. We have many resources to help you integrate into UK scociety.
