Project Coordinator

Project: Preserving Afghan Musical Heritage in Exile:
We are seeking a passionate and organised Part-Time Project Coordinator to lead the delivery of our exciting new heritage project “Preserving Afghan Musical Heritage in Exile”, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
This community-led project celebrates and preserves Afghan musical heritage in exile through oral histories, workshops, women’s story circles, digital archiving, and public performances across London

  • Job Title: Project Coordinator (Part-Time)
  • Hours: 16–20 hours per week (2–3 days)
  • Contract: Fixed-term – 12 months (2nd of March 2026)
  • Salary: £15,600 per annum
  • Location: London (Community venues in Harrow & surrounding boroughs)


Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all project activities including workshops, oral history sessions, filming, and showcase events
  • Build relationships with Afghan musicians, elders, women, young people, and partners
  • Support and supervise volunteers
  • Liaise with the project partners and all relevant agencies
  • Promote project activities through community networks and social media


Essential Criteria

  • Experience of working with the community or cultural projects
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Fluent in community languages (Dari or Pashto and English)
  • Comfortable working with diverse communities
  • Basic IT skills (email, Word, social media)
  • Ability to work flexibly, including occasional evenings/weekends


Desirable

  • Knowledge of Afghan culture or music
  • Experience of working with refugees or migrant communities
  • Understanding of heritage, oral history, or digital archiving
