Project: Preserving Afghan Musical Heritage in Exile:
We are seeking a passionate and organised Part-Time Project Coordinator to lead the delivery of our exciting new heritage project “Preserving Afghan Musical Heritage in Exile”, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
This community-led project celebrates and preserves Afghan musical heritage in exile through oral histories, workshops, women’s story circles, digital archiving, and public performances across London
- Job Title: Project Coordinator (Part-Time)
- Hours: 16–20 hours per week (2–3 days)
- Contract: Fixed-term – 12 months (2nd of March 2026)
- Salary: £15,600 per annum
- Location: London (Community venues in Harrow & surrounding boroughs)
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate all project activities including workshops, oral history sessions, filming, and showcase events
- Build relationships with Afghan musicians, elders, women, young people, and partners
- Support and supervise volunteers
- Liaise with the project partners and all relevant agencies
- Promote project activities through community networks and social media
Essential Criteria
- Experience of working with the community or cultural projects
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Fluent in community languages (Dari or Pashto and English)
- Comfortable working with diverse communities
- Basic IT skills (email, Word, social media)
- Ability to work flexibly, including occasional evenings/weekends
Desirable
- Knowledge of Afghan culture or music
- Experience of working with refugees or migrant communities
- Understanding of heritage, oral history, or digital archiving
